Welcome! I am a photographer in north-central Wisconsin, based in Merrill and serving the Wausau area. I specialize in high school Seniors, children, portraits, and families. Connor, 2016I have had a hard time catching up on my blog of late, but determined to do it before my busy late summer/fall season starts. Sadly, that means I am quite late posting the next set of photos, which were taken last fall. They are photos of a young man that is special to our family. We have been friends with his family since he was very small and he and my 2nd son have been close friends since then. Connor is a smart, homeschooled boy who has always loved all-things-military, so it was no surprise to us that he decided to enlist in the Army right after high school. Oh, so young! But so mature for his age. We found out that he is going to be gone for a long time, so he stopped by for a visit before heading out of state for training. He did not have a big graduation celebration and no Senior portraits, but his mother and I quickly determined that we had to talk him into, at least, a few shots at the house before saying good-bye. Here is Connor -- a patriot and amazing young man.
Jordan, Class of '16 | Claremont Christian Academy ~ Claremont, NHJordan's was one of the most challenging sessions I had, weather-wise. We snuck it in late in the season and, despite our best efforts at timing, it decided to be quite gloomy and cold outside. Thankfully, Jordan and his family were game for whatever we could get and we had a really fun session at a unique location. Jordan is a resident of Plainfield, NH and wanted his town to be reflected in his portraits, so we hit some iconic locations like the Old Mill, covered bridge, and his amazing church. With the autumn setting, I think we had a wonderful session and a lot of fun. Jordan is a Senior at Claremont Christian Academy and I've had the pleasure of watching him in some really fun drama performances over the past few years. I think that Jordan has a great future ahead! Here are some favorites from Jordan, Class of '16!
Faith, Class of '16 | Claremont Christian Academy ~ Claremont, NHFaith is one of three sisters -- and the third (and last) Senior in the family that I had the privilege to photograph! All of the girls are very close, active in dance, and have bright futures ahead. Faith wanted a mix of nature and small-town "urban," and I think we fulfilled her wishes nicely! She is a graduate of Claremont Christian Academy in Claremont, NH. I have to add that, a few months after this session, Faith got in a terrible car crash and, thankfully, her life was spared, though she was seriously injured. She is on her way to a full recovery and I am so thankful to hear that and grateful that I was able to capture these precious memories of such an important time in her life.

Mini Session, Abby 2015Abby is a Freshman and lives in beautiful Vermont. A few years ago, I did a session with her whole family and her mother really wanted to capture some memories of Abby around Claremont, where she spent her early years. She, particularly, has fond memories of the Opera House and library. A mini-session was a perfect fit. I took her brother's Senior portraits at the same time, so it was a great combination. Gabe, Class of '16 | Missisquoi Valley Union High School ~ Swanton, VTI took photos of Gabe at his family's photo-session a few years ago. He's all grown up now and graduating with the Class of '16! Gabe decided that he wanted a more small-town "urban" look to his photos in the same town where he spent much of his life. I was happy to find some great spots that fit the bill well. Gabe is a very smart young man who is actually graduating early! He's on his way to great things. Here are some favorites from our session.
Matthew, Class of '16 | Claremont Christian Academy ~ Claremont, NHMatthew and his family asked me to do a Senior session at a beautiful park with an impressive covered bridge near-by -- and I'm so glad they did! It is a gem and I will surely be back again. I love that this setting really encompasses rural New Hampshire. If a client incorporates a setting or props that really reflect who they are, it adds a timeless and wonderful element to their session. I look forward to hearing many good things about Matthew in the future. He comes from an amazing family and is one of 5 brothers. I can imagine the fun and closeness in that house! Shoot-and-Share ContestI am finally getting around to sharing my photos that placed in the recent international Shoot-and-Share Contest. This contest gets over 250K entries (each participant can enter up to 50 photos) and they are voted on, with eliminating rounds, over apx. 4 weeks. There are several categories to enter (mostly wedding, due to the nature of S&S,) and the top 1% of each category is honored as Finalists, with the Top 100 being "The Best of the Best." My highest rated photo was in the Senior category which broke the Top 100. I had one other make the Top 1% and several in the Top 10%, 20%, and 30% -- all an honor, considering the pure volume of photos judged. Without further ado, here are my tops for the Shoot-and-Share International Contest of 2016 (rated highest to lowest; I entered 50 altogether.):
